Pygmy date palm trees, also known as Robellini palms are a dwarf variety of palms that are most commonly used in landscaping They can also be enjoyed as container plants if you have the room indoors or on your patio

These palms are tropical and will require many hours of sunlight, humid temperatures, and constant moisture in order to thrive

They will not be able to withstand freezing conditions and will need to be brought indoors if living in containers; or, covered in plastic if planted on your property

They are very slow growers, and will take many years to reach their full size of 6-12 feet in height

Propagation can be done by dividing young shoots off of mature trees It will take a few months for the young plant to become established, but once it is it will need to be moved to an area with many hours of sunlight

Though these pygmy palms have the ability to produce fruit, it's not what they are used for It will take many years of ideal conditions for the tree to produce fruit
